What is Seva? For many this word is still unknown. Seva is voluntary service. It is the dedication of part of the personal time to help the next or a group of the community. This type of work for Kundalini Yoga practitioners or not is very positive because it is a high way to support those who need to expand the human consciousness. Seva can happen in many ways, the way it matters little, what matters is the willingness to donate love without waiting for rewards.
This type of work at the beginning is quite exciting, but a particularity of any volunteer is that in the long term it can take the person out of the comfort zone. Because there is no remuneration and the volunteer can reduce the frequency and discipline with the work, sometimes it feels difficult to find time or is confronted emotionally with the type of service. However, it is in this confrontation that the blessings usually live, for it is when one can give up oneself to serve the other.
In Kundalini Yoga events, for example, many teachers mobilize to cook, clean, and take care of administrative services. Each one can offer his personal talent. Seva also can and should happen outside the events. Groups such as chemical dependents, the elderly, people with special needs, the sick and children are generally good options.
Yogi Bhajan, master of Kundalini Yoga said that teachers of this technique need to take advantage of their creative potential and strength, because the cosmic power donated by Kundalini energy allows them to distribute this power. “Rise, inspire those who are oppressed. Take the cosmic power of the Kundalini and become a Divine channel to serve, “he said.
“Seva or service is an endless gift.” If you do some service and say, “I served,” then you totally missed the point. Service is when you feel honored doing something. You do not feel honor in the company of many. You feel it in yourself. This is service! ” “Seva is when your interior is honored when you honor yourself. When I am honored in my conscience for doing something, this is seva. When I stand before my conscience, I feel good, and I say, “Well, I am so blessed that I could do that.” this is seva “. -Yogi Bhajan, 7/22/78

“We, Kundalini Yoga teachers, must become energy reservoirs.” Our words, our vision, our presence must be in a position to change the frequency of a person who needs the initial leap. It does not matter what condition you are in. But it matters how clear and precise you are to lift the other person. ”
